Interesting Facts about India’s 70th Republic Day - “Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa“ ( Chief Guest )
The Constitution of India came into effect on Republic Day, January 26, 1950. On this day, India was declared as the 'Purna Swaraj Country' and thus India began celebrating Republic Day as the anniversary of the Purna Swaraj Day. Republic Day in India is celebrated every year with great pride on January 26 to honour the Constitution of India as it came into force on the same day in the year 1950. It had replaced the Government of India Act, 1935 into the governing document of India. 2019 celebration will be special as this year will mark the 150th birth anniversary of ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi. Around 17 tableaux from States/Union Territories and 6 from various ministries will be displayed in the parade based on the theme ‘Gandhi'. Along with the official celebrations at the Rajpath in the presence of Indian President , the Republic Day is also celebrated throughout the country with great enthusiasm.
